Changing the dates of a booking
Updated 25 September 2026 · 2 min readYou can ask to change a confirmed booking until the check-in time. Open your booking page (the link is in your booking e-mail, or in Trips) and choose Change reservation.
Asking for a change
Pick new dates on the price calendar. Your own nights show as free. You can also change the number of adults, children and pets. The number of guests doesn't change the price, but it can't go above what the home sleeps. Pets can come only if the home allows them; adding the first pet adds the home's pet fee, and leaving them all at home takes it off.
The box underneath compares Now and New: the nights, the cleaning fee and the total. The new total is what those dates cost today, priced the same way as a new booking. Taxes and long-stay discounts are included, and a non-refundable booking keeps its 10% off. Add a message if you like, then send the request.
The host has 24 hours to answer, or until check-in if that is sooner. Your booking stays exactly as it is until they accept. While you wait, you can withdraw the request. Each booking can have one open change at a time.
If the new total is higher
You pay the difference. If you paid by card on Spitio, the difference is held on your card when you send the request. It is only taken if the host accepts. If the host declines or doesn't answer, the hold is released.
If the new total is lower
The free-cancellation date is the one on your original booking. After a change, free cancellation ends on the earlier of the old date and the one for your new dates, so a change never extends it.
When the host suggests a change
A host can also propose other dates, guests or another of their homes. You'll see the proposal on your booking page and in Messages. Accept it (paying any difference), or decline and your booking stays. If the host's proposal is cheaper, you get the whole difference back. If you decline and the host then cancels, you get 100% back.
