Messaging your guests

Aktualisiert: 25. September 2026 · Lesezeit 2 Min.

Your conversations with guests are in Host → Messages. Guests start them, either by writing to you from your listing or when they book with a Spitio account. Hosts can't start a new conversation.

When there is a conversation with a guest, their reservation also has a Message button with their name.

Messages are text only, up to 2000 characters each.

Contact details

Until a booking is confirmed, e-mail addresses, links and phone numbers in messages are hidden automatically, on both sides. Once the booking is confirmed, new messages are no longer masked, and the guest's e-mail and phone appear in the side panel under Contact. Messages sent before that stay masked.

Saved replies

For answers you give often, such as check-in details, a port transfer or the house rules, make saved replies. In a conversation, press Saved replies next to the send button: your saved replies open above the message box, and one click drops the text into your message.

At the bottom of that list, + New saved reply saves a new one (it starts with the text you are writing). Give it a name (up to 40 characters) and the text (up to 2000). Manage opens the whole list, to change or delete a reply.

Alerts and the side panel

If a message stays unread for about 10 minutes, we e-mail you a "New message from" alert, at most once an hour per conversation.

The side panel shows the guest's details: whether their e-mail is verified, when they joined Spitio, reviews from other hosts, and whether the dates are free on your calendar. It also shows the money: with 0% commission, you receive what the guest pays, minus card fees.

Keep your conversations on Spitio. A phone number written before the booking is confirmed won't get through, and once it is confirmed, contact details are shared automatically.
