What happens if the host cancels?
Aktualisiert: 25. September 2026 · Lesezeit 1 Min.You get everything back
The host cancels, on any rateYou get 100% of what you paid back, including the cleaning fee and taxes.
This applies to the non-refundable rate too. The cancellation rules that limit refunds only apply when you cancel.
How you hear about it
You get an e-mail whose subject starts with "Cancelled:", followed by the home and your dates. It says what you paid and what you get back. If the host added a note when cancelling, it appears in the e-mail too.
Your booking page and Trips then show the stay as Cancelled.
How the refund reaches you
- You paid by card on Spitio: the refund goes back to the same card automatically, usually within 5–10 days.
- You paid the host another way: the host refunds you directly, and Spitio's team makes sure it happens. If it hasn't arrived within 10 days, reply to the cancellation e-mail and we'll follow it up.
- You hadn't paid yet: nothing was charged, so there is nothing to refund.

Finding another place
You can look for another home for the same dates in search. If you have questions about the cancellation itself, write to us through Contact.
You don't need to ask for your refund. For card payments made on Spitio, it starts as soon as the host cancels.
