How booking works

Aktualisiert: 25. September 2026 · Lesezeit 2 Min.

You don't need an account to book on Spitio. Pick your dates on the home's page, then give your name, e-mail and country of residence. Choose a rate, and agree to the host's house rules and the cancellation policy.

Bringing a pet? Add it in the booking box on the home's page. You can only add pets where the host allows them, up to their limit, and any pet fee (once per stay) is shown in the total before you book.

Greek law requires hosts to register guests on arrival. Your name and country are shared with the host for this purpose only.

Request to book

On most homes you send a request with Send request. The host then accepts or declines it, and you hear back by e-mail. Nothing is charged while you wait. Once the host accepts, the nights are yours. You then pay from your booking page, or, if the host doesn't take cards on Spitio, the host arranges payment with you directly.

Instant booking

Some hosts switch on instant booking. Your stay is then confirmed at once. If the host takes card payments on Spitio, you pay in the same step with Confirm and pay. If not, the button reads Confirm booking, and the host arranges payment with you directly.

Where your booking stands

Your booking always shows one of four states:

  • Waiting for the host: your request is sent and the host hasn't answered yet.
  • Confirmed: the host accepted, or the home booked instantly.
  • Declined: the host can't host you on those dates. Nothing was charged.
  • Cancelled: the stay was cancelled.

Every booking has its own private page. The link is in your booking e-mail and works without an account. If you have an account, you'll also find your bookings in Trips.

A stay can be at most 60 nights. For longer, write to the host. You can book up to 540 days ahead.

Keep the e-mail with your booking link. It is your way back to your booking page, where you can pay, see the details or cancel.
