Accepting or declining a booking request
Updated 25 September 2026 · 2 min readUnless instant booking is on, every booking for your home starts as a request. You decide whether to accept it.
Find the request
You get an e-mail for each new request, "New booking request", with the home and the dates. Go to Host → Reservations. New requests are under Waiting for you, marked "New request".
Open one to see the dates, guests, total and rate, the guest's e-mail and phone, where they live, and their message.
Accept or decline
The request box says: "Nothing is charged until you accept. Your calendar closes for these nights when you do."
You can add an optional line to the guest, up to 500 characters, for example your check-in time or how you'll arrange payment. Then press Accept or Decline. You can also answer from Messages.
If some of the nights are no longer free on your calendar, Spitio won't let you accept. Open those nights first, or decline the request.
If you decline, the guest is told by e-mail and your calendar doesn't change.
After you accept
The guest gets a "Confirmed" e-mail, and the nights close on your calendar.
- If you take card payments, the guest pays from their booking page. Until they do, the reservation shows "Awaiting payment".
- If you haven't set up card payments, you arrange payment with the guest directly. Their booking page tells them so.
Or switch on instant booking
In Host → Pricing, turn on Instant booking. Guests then book and the stay is confirmed at once, and the nights close on your calendar straight away. Keep your calendar up to date when it's on: a guest can book any night that shows as free.
