When do I pay, and is the price final?
Updated 25 September 2026 · 2 min readWhen you're charged
- Request to book: nothing is charged when you send the request. Once the host accepts, you pay from your booking page with Continue to payment, or from Trips with Pay now.
- Instant booking: when the host takes card payments on Spitio, you pay straight away as you book.
You pay the full amount in one go. It is a real charge, not a hold on your card. You can pay with Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Apple Pay or Google Pay.
Where your money goes
You pay the host directly. The payment goes to the host's own account with Stripe, our payment provider. Your card details go straight to Stripe and never reach Spitio or the host. Your card statement shows the payment to the host's business.
What the total includes
Spitio charges guests no service fee: 0%. You pay the host's price, made up of:
- the nights, each priced on its own date
- minus a long-stay discount, if the host offers one (from 7 or from 28 nights)
- minus 10% off the nights, if you chose the non-refundable rate
- plus the cleaning fee, once per stay
- plus the host's taxes, set by the host as Greek law requires
The total you see at checkout is the full price of the stay, taxes included. If the price for your dates changes while you're booking, the site asks you to reload the page and see the new total first.
When the host doesn't take cards on Spitio
Some hosts haven't set up card payments yet. Your booking page then says that the host will arrange payment with you directly, and nothing is charged on Spitio.
